What I enjoyed |
What Challenged Me |
I enjoyed how easy it was to get into the book. The author throws the reader into the world of the boys almost immediately which made me keep reading. There were very few names that needed to be remembered even though there are plenty of characters. I find this characteristic vital for a book in order to provide the reader with a little unnecessary information as possible. I also found the book similar to how I grew up with the kids around me (Without the killing). This allowed me to build a deeper connection with the overall meaning of the book.
Reccomendation |
One thing that I sometimes struggled with while reading this book was figuring out who was talking during parts with heavy dialog. The author chose to refrain from adding in which character said what and as a result the story got messy. Other than that it was a pretty easy read with simple messages. Since the story was about young boys, the vocabulary was very manageable.

I recommend this book to anyone under the age of 95 that has a desire to read about how order is controlled and lost on a small scale. A lot can be learned from this book and anyone could benefit from its timeless lessons. This book shows how boys attempt to survive on an island by themselves. They have to chose which kind of rules they are going to have and not have.
